New Moon is in a way a revision of the Shakespearean romance Romeo and Juliet. The impossible relationship/love story, the desire to sacrifice one's life for the sake of his/her lover. The classic romance is positioned within the context of the second chapter of the Saga to foreshadow the torturing experience of Edward and Bella and their separation. But thanks to Stephanie Meyer our tragic heroes get their happy ending throughout. As Rob puts it "the damsel in distress almost saves Eward every time!."
